Course Goal / Objective

It is aimed that the student approaches the design process from a conceptual perspective, develops ideas based on a specific program or design problem, explores creative methods to translate those ideas into spatial form, expresses the concept-space relationship through theoretical and visual means, and makes original design decisions within this framework.

Course Content

The role and importance of the main idea in the spatial design process; the process of identifying a main idea and developing a concept in design problems; components of the main idea; the relationship between the main idea and the concept; methods of idea generation through theme and metaphor; developing interior space scenarios aligned with the main idea/concept; the impact of the main idea/concept on function, form, and spatial organization; main idea diagrams; components of the main idea; focused design approaches in expressing the main idea.
