General Information

Çukurova University Faculty of Medicine (ÇÜTF), which was established in 1972 under Atatürk University, serves in Çukurova University Balcalı Campus, which is established on a total of 22.000 decares of land. In our faculty, besides the management and education units, there are laboratories that allow various research in different branches of science, and a hospital complex with a bed capacity of 1200 that provides high-level health and education services to the region of South, Southeast and Eastern Anatolia, especially the Çukurova region. Our faculty has a learning environment, infrastructure, facilities and basic academic units suitable for educational models. Our faculty has the capacity to offer patient diversity to our students, the number of beds, the diversity of disciplines, cooperation with institutions where community-based medical education practices can be carried out, and clinical and laboratory environments that will provide sufficient clinical experience. In addition, it has a constructive interaction with national and international institutions, organizations, professional organizations, non-governmental organizations, voluntary organizations and society. Our faculty has an educational administration organization consisting of boards with student participation. As an important stakeholder of education, student representation is ensured in all processes related to education and training, and continuous and regular communication is established with students at every stage. In our faculty, feedback from faculty and students is regularly collected and the level of achievement of the defined goals of our education program is evaluated. Our faculty has been in an education-oriented structuring since the year it was founded, and has carried out studies for the continuous improvement of education in the organization and development of all the trainings it has done so far, and has tried to apply new education techniques in its program.Our faculty, which is one of the well-established faculties of Turkey, has entered a rapid change and transformation process in education since 2001. The undergraduate education program of our faculty was accredited in 2012 and re-accredited in 2018 until 2024. In our faculty, undergraduate and postgraduate education and health services are provided in three departments, namely Surgery, Internal and Basic Medical Sciences, 43 Departments and 55 Sciences. Specialization and minor specialization training is given to the assistants and foreign national assistants in our faculty and the Ministry of Health. In our faculty, Basic Medical Sciences education and practices are carried out, 4 Lectures with a capacity of 1150 students, 8 Interactive education classrooms with a capacity of 130 students, 22 classrooms, 4 Multidisciplinary Laboratories with a capacity of 256 students, 1 Skills Laboratory for 36 people and a Medical Informatics Laboratory with a capacity of 36 students, 128 There is the Anatomy Practice Hall with student capacity, a library, reading room and internet room for students, and the Hippocrates Conference Hall for 460 people. Integrated, supported by the coeducational system in our faculty. Skills Labs in Term I, II and III, First Step Course in Term I, Reproductive Health Module in Term II, Basic Life Support Course in Term III and Multidisciplinary Approach to the Advanced Patient Module, Advanced Life Support in Term V Neonatal Resuscitation courses are given to students who have problems in physician-patient communication in Term VI. C.U. The integrated education system, which has been implemented in the medical faculty since its establishment, has been enriched in the last 10 years with new methods widely accepted in the world in accordance with the learner-centered education system. The basic and indispensable principle of our education program enriched with small group activities is the acquisition of learner-centered knowledge and skills. C.U. The undergraduate medical education program of the medical school is a program focused on the priority health problems of the society. In the program, students learn the learning subjects under the headings of normal structure and function, abnormal structure and function in the pre-clinical period, are equipped with the necessary knowledge and skills to cope with primary health problems in the clinical period, and during the internship period, they learn all these competencies and competencies as a physician under the supervision of trainers intended to be implemented. The undergraduate medical education program in our faculty is focused on the priority health problems of the society and is compatible with the national EAP recommended by YÖK to the faculties. Term 1: Normal Structure and Function/ Human Sciences-Cell-Tissue: It consists of 5 committees with a duration of 7-9 weeks in a 36-week period. Basic concepts such as the building blocks of the cell, its morphology, its cycle, the biological balance of the body, and homeostasis, which will form the basis for understanding the normal structure and functions of the systems, are covered. Term 2: Normal Structure and Function/ Systems: It consists of 5 committees formed by system groups, lasting 38 weeks, lasting 6-9 weeks. It is aimed to introduce the normal structure and functions of the body with an integrated (horizontal) and correlated (vertical) structure with clinical examples on the basis of systems. Period 3: Physiopathology and Disease: The main feature of this period, which lasts for 38 weeks in total, is the transfer of pathological processes on the basis of systems, emphasizing their clinical meaning and relations. It consists of 8 boards lasting 3-5 weeks. Term 4-5: Internship Period (Clinical Sciences): In this period, which lasts for a total of 78 weeks in two years, students will be able to comprehend the basic medical knowledge and skills they have acquired in previous periods with their clinical correlations, to ensure that they learn fully the necessary information in the management of priority health problems, mainly to solve problems, differential diagnosis aims to prepare an environment suitable for the development of patient approach skills on a disciplinary basis. Term 6: Candidate Physician Term (Internship): The main purpose of this one-year term is for students to practice medicine under supervision. They actively participate in the diagnosis, care, treatment and follow-up of patients at the level of junior assistants who have just started their specialization. Evaluations are made by their knowledge, skills and attitudes in these studies. In our faculty, pre-clinical education is given in the lecture halls of the Department of Basic Medical Sciences, in the morphology building, where the Dean's Office and student affairs are located. Clinical training is carried out in Balcalı Hospital.
