Course Goal / Objective
To teach the fundamental principles of mechanics supported by various laboratory experiments. Also, to give students a wide perspective in order to explain some mechanical events in nature and daily life.
Course Content
Physics and measurement; vectors; motion in one dimension; motion in two dimensions; the laws of motion; circular motion and applications of Newton laws; static equilibrium; work and energy; potential energy and conservation of energy; linear momentum and collisions; rotation of a rigid body about a fixed axis; rolling motion, angular momentum and torque. In addition, the following experiments are carried out by each student during the semester and the student submits a report for each experiment on time: addition of forces on a force table, one dimensional uniform motion, motion with constant acceleration, projectile motion, to find the value of gravitational acceleration by various methods, elastic and inelastic collisions, some demo experiments.
