Course Goal / Objective
To provide basic information about the earth, coordinate systems, the concept of datum and the use of equipotential surfaces in mining engineering.
Course Content
What is geodesy, Why is it important for mining; Reference surfaces; Equipotential surfaces and the mathematical shape of the Earth; Geoid height and application areas; Geoid Models; Coordinate reference system (CRS); EPSG format; What is a datum, why is it important; Fundamental networks used in our country; Mapping studies in Turkey; Coordinates used in Geodesy; Transformations used in geodesy: Map projection change (knowing the type); Transformations used in geodesy: Map projection change (type unknown); UTM and Gauss Kruger projection
