Course Goal / Objective
The primary goal of this course is to help students consciously apply fundamental design elements and principles and guide them in making informed artistic and design decisions in their projects. Students will learn how to implement design principles in drawing and surface design, while also experimenting with different artistic materials to gain flexibility in the design process. This course will provide theoretical knowledge on aesthetics, composition, and visual balance, while also offering hands-on exercises to improve students’ design skills. Through midterm and final projects, students will develop original drawings that incorporate various design elements, presenting their work and refining their critical thinking abilities.
Course Content
This course provides students with a comprehensive understanding of design elements and principles, enabling them to integrate this knowledge into drawing, surface design, and decorative applications. Throughout the course, students will explore fundamental design elements such as point, line, shape, texture, color, and typography, learning how to combine these with design principles such as rhythm, balance, contrast, hierarchy, and unity. Students will create drawings and compositions that incorporate these elements and principles, experimenting with different approaches to the design process. Additionally, the knowledge gained in this course will help students make more conscious design decisions in surface design, ceramic decoration techniques, and other artistic applications. For their midterm and final projects, students will develop original drawings that reflect their understanding of design principles, allowing for artistic and technical evaluation.
Course Precondition
