Course Goal / Objective

The necessity of placing faith on an epistemological ground centered on the known rather than the unknown is tried to be revealed.

Course Content

It is not possible to eliminate the dualism of subject (believer) and object (believer) in faith. It is ontologically impossible to accept that this duality does not exist in mystical experience. Human beings as subjects and God as objects do not belong to the same sphere of being. In this case, it cannot be possible for faith to disappear in the “unity” that is claimed to be achieved through mystical experience, and its place to be filled by “ma'rifet”, “wajd”, etc. Therefore, the “mystic” or the “Sufi” can never say that he has transcended faith. Epistemological faith based on “subject-object dualism” is closed to mysticism and monism. This means that in mystical and monist views that abolish the “subject-object duality”, it is not possible to speak of a “relationship of faith” and therefore a “relationship of morality”.

By doing preliminary readings about faith, definitions of faith are learned.
