Course Goal / Objective

This course aims to introduce the ecological significance of aquatic invertebrates within biodiversity and to examine the environmental threats they face. It also focuses on scientific approaches to the conservation of invertebrate species, along with the ethical considerations regarding their use in research, industry, and food systems, through an interdisciplinary lens.

Course Content

The course begins with fundamental concepts in conservation biology and proceeds to explore the evolutionary, ecological, and ethical aspects of freshwater and marine invertebrates. Key topics include the identification of threatened species, national and international conservation policies, the impact of invasive species, habitat restoration, and ethical aquaculture practices..
